Bowing to mounting pressure from within his party, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi  announced his decision to step aside from his role of Umno president, The Star confirms. Hamidi was slapped with an additional criminal breach of trust (CBT) charge last week over the alleged misappropriation of funds from charity foundation Yayasan Akalbudi, bringing the total charges against the former Deputy Prime Minister to 46. Hamidi said his deputy Mohamad Hasan will be assuming the duties of the president in the wake of the political crisis that has befallen the party.
