Malaysia has attracted potential investments worth RM59.5 billion (US$14.6 billion) through official visits and overseas trade and investment promotion missions in 2025–2026.
Of these, RM14.2 billion has been approved, while the remaining RM45.3 billion is at various stages of negotiation and being closely followed up by Malaysian authorities. The results came from 14 official visits and trade and investment promotion missions led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Johari Abdul Ghani from 2025 to September 2026, according to the country’s trade ministry. The ministry said on Monday that investment projects typically take 18-24 months to materialize, depending on their scale, complexity and prevailing economic conditions, the ministry said. The Malaysian Investment Development Authority will continue monitoring and providing support to help turn identified investment opportunities into actual projects, it noted. Official visits to countries including Kenya, Brazil, the UK, Türkiye, Japan, Italy, France, South Korea, China, Thailand, India and Russia had generated positive results, facilitating exports worth RM6.77 billion through high-level engagements, the ministry said. The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation has continued to diversify export promotion activities in emerging markets across Central Asia, Africa and Latin America. Malaysia’s exports to the three regions totaled RM69.84 billion in the first nine months of 2026, up 23.06% year-on-year. Read more at:
