Maybel, who was studying Business Management and Entrepreneurship in South Korea when the military coup took place in 2021, said in an interview with the Insight Myanmar Podcast that she could not simply watch as thousands of people were being killed under military rule, and therefore decided to join the revolution. Such decisions by young people to participate in the resistance on their own initiative remain part of the broader youth movement that emerged after the coup.

Bago District Battalion 2, P2-3702, has also entered a revolutionary performance competition as contestant No. 5 with a video titled “The City Is No Longer Safe.” The video portrays how young people have become increasingly unsafe because of military conscription and forced porter recruitment by the Myanmar military, including cases of people being forcibly taken as porters and later defecting. A total of 16 revolutionary groups are participating in the competition. Winners will be determined based on the number of Likes and Shares received by their videos on social media. Read more at:
