The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has deployed 446,291 personnel to safeguard the 2024 elections. TNI personnel, together with the General Election Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), and the community will assist in securing the 820,000 polling stations (TPS) across Indonesia. “We are aware that there have been several natural disasters in our region. TNI forces and other community elements have assisted, such as in the Merapi mountain disaster in NTT, flood disasters in the Medan and South Sumatra regions,” Military Commander General Agus Subiyanto said at a ceremony in Halim, East Jakarta, on Thursday.

“Act professionally to anticipate any situation that could disrupt security stability and affect the democratic process,” said Major General Mohamad Hasan, the Commander of the Jakarta Military Region (Pangdam Jaya). Hasan also underscored the importance of upholding TNI’s neutrality and solidarity to resist provocations from certain groups and their involvement in political interests. “I remind all soldiers to always provide support for each other, maintain a strong foundation with relevant authorities, and ensure an adequate number of personnel to guarantee the security and smooth conduct of the presidential and vice-presidential elections as well as legislative elections,” he said.
