Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, special representative of Foreign Affairs Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, said Thailand was ready to work closely with Myanmar to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation in security and economic areas, a ministry statement said. Mr. Parnpree, chairman of the advisory board to the deputy prime minister and foreign affairs minister, on Friday attended the swearing-in ceremony of Myanmar’s president and later paid a courtesy call on President Min Aung Hlaing. The statement, issued on Sunday, said Mr Parnpree conveyed congratulations from the prime minister and the foreign affairs minister, describing Myanmar as a close neighbor with longstanding ties. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Myanmar to support stability and shared prosperity. Mr Parnpree and Mr Sihasak previously served together on an advisory team based at Phitsanulok Mansion during the administration of former prime minister Gen Chatichai Choonhavan. Both later worked again under the Srettha Thavisin government when Mr Parnpree was deputy PM and foreign minister, and Mr Sihasak served as an assistant minister at the ministry. His appointment is expected to strengthen the ministry, particularly in economic diplomacy — an area in which he has extensive expertise.
