Malaysian authorities have called for calm and urged the public not to take matters into their own hands, amid growing worries of racial tension after a firefighter died from injuries from an alleged attack during last month’s riots at a Hindu temple, Channel News Asia reports. Nearly 400 Malaysian police personnel have moved to secure the temple and the business complex of a property developer that is at the center of a land dispute which sparked clashes at the religious site. Riots erupted late November at a Hindu temple in Subang Jaya, a mainly middle- to upper-class residential area in Malaysia’s Selangor state, following a dispute over the temple’s relocation. Authorities reported that up to 200 people were involved in the riot.
