All nine board members, including managing director Azman Mokhtar, of Malaysia’s US$39 billion sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional have resigned in response to criticism from Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, Channel News Asia reports. The Prime Minister said sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional Bhd had deviated from its original objective of helping the Bumiputera. In an interview with business website Investvine, he also vowed to put an end to the high salaries for the heads of government-linked companies (GLCs). The Rembau Member of Parliament, Khairy Jamaluddin, has voiced his concern over the possibility that government-linked companies (GLC) could be broken up and sold off.
