Thailand is struggling to cope with a worsening seasonal drought, which is forecast to last until July, as the country continues its fight to contain the coronavirus outbreak. Up to 6,255 villages in 24 provinces have already been declared drought-affected areas, while the dams and reserves are only 49% full. Of that, only 26% of the water can actually be used, a meeting of the Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) was told on Monday. The video conference was headed by Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon. Several areas are already facing severe water shortages, the meeting was told.
