President Vladimir Putin will meet US President Donald Trump at a summit in Vietnam this weekend on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Summit), Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed Wednesday after weeks of uncertainty. Lavrov also announced plans to discuss North Korea, Syria, Iraq and Ukraine with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson at APEC. Trump arrived in China on Wednesday seeking help to rein in North Korea, telling the reclusive state’s leader he was putting his country in grave danger by developing nuclear weapons. Meanwhile back home, the US Senate Banking Committee unanimously approved strengthened sanctions against North Korea over its intercontinental ballistic missile program.
