Maria Ressa, president of Rappler Holdings Corporation (RHC), evaded arrest by posting bail Monday at a Pasig City Regional Trial Court after being charged with tax evasion, ABS CBN news reports. Amid concern from fellow journalists that she would be arrested upon her arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Sunday night, she said she came back to “do what I need to do to face all this”. Known for its tough scrutiny of President Rodrigo Duterte’s government, the news site has been banned from covering the president’s official events. Duterte once said that had had enough of “fake news” from Rappler.
