Malaysia on Tuesday said former prime minister Najib Razakhad been arrested and would be charged on Wednesday in relation to a probe into SRC International, a former unit of troubled state fund1MDB, Reuters reports. Officials quoted by the Star Online described the transfer of the funds, estimated at more than RM42mil between December 2014 and early 2015, as a very strong “open and shut” case against Najib. SRC International director, Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil is the person said to have played a key role in the transfer of funds. Nik Faisal is believed to be Indonesia. Embezzlement and bribery with government money are among the charges that Malaysia is looking to bring against Najib following a probe into funds allegedly looted from the state-run fund 1MDB, Prime Minister MahathirMohamad said as quoted by Reuters last week.
