Remarks about Rohingya refugees by State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and U.S. Vice President Mike Pence on the sidelines of this week’s ASEAN summit in Singapore have caused a stir in Myanmar.  Delivering the Trump administration’s most high-profile criticism to date of the persecution of Rohingya Muslims, Pence said at a press briefing attended by the two that state violence against the group was “without excuse”.
