Myanmar blamed Bangladesh on Tuesday for delays to a huge repatriation program for Rohingya refugees, as the deadline passed for starting the return of the Muslim minority to strife-torn Rakhine state. The gradual repatriation of more than 650,000 Rohingya Muslim refugees to Myanmar from Bangladesh has been postponed amid widespread fears that refugees would be forced to return against their will, a Bangladeshi official said. Meanwhile, the trial has begun at a Myanmar court in Yangon for two Reuters journalists detained on suspicion of violating the country’s secrecy law after they uncovered what many believed to be a mass graveyard of Rohingyas. The policemen who arrested them testified on Tuesday.
