Half-Malaysian and half-Australian Amir Milson, the 2010 winner of Cleo magazine’s Most Eligible Bachelor of Malaysia contest, died while fighting for the Islamic State militant group in Syria, according to Australian newspaper Herald Sun. Analysts say as IS militants were losing ground in Syria and Iraq, the terror group was attempting to expand in Southeast Asia, which is home to a number of separatist and militant groups, according to VOA News. Governments in Southeast Asia, a region that is home to some 270 million Muslims, fear that their part of the world may now turn into the extremists’ new area of growth. These nations are side-lining old rivalries and working together to make sure that doesn’t happen, Wall Street Journal reports.
