Whether foreigners can buy property at Malaysia’s multi-billion dollar project, Forest City, is still undecided, according to the country’s minister for housing and local government, Zuraida Kamaruddin. The Malay Mail quoted her saying on Tuesday that she was still assessing the issue and would report to Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. Previously, Mahathir said foreigners would no longer be allowed to buy property at Forest City, which is built by Garden Holdings Co., a joint venture of Malaysian and Chinese companies. While some of the potential buyers said they were reconsidering their investments, others dismissed Mahathir’s remarks and remained optimistic about the project’s potential to deliver returns, Today Online reports.
