Malaysia’s scandal-plagued strategic investment arm 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) will be wound up after it has cleared all its debts, its chairman said on Tuesday. Malaysia’s prime minister, Najib Razak defended 1MDB’s RM42 billion debt, saying the money never disappeared, unlike the RM31 billion losses incurred in Bank Negara’s (BNM) foreign exchange scandal. Malaysia’s Court of Appeal has reaffirmed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had done nothing wrong in the 1MDB scandal. The court said it ought to take judicial notice of the fact that the attorney-general (AG) had made a decision to that effect.
