A group of former agents from Malaysia’s foreign intelligence agency, including its chief, are being investigated for alleged misappropriation of government funds, Reuters reports, quoting a senior Malaysian anti-corruption official said on Thursday. Earlier this week, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested the former director-general of Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation, Datuk Hasanah Abdul Hamid, to help in the probe in the latest case of election funds misappropriation. Some US$12 million, believed to be funds misappropriated by the former government, was brought in through Kuala Lumpur International Airport just before the May general election, said MACC deputy chief commissioner Azam Baki, as quoted by Today Online.
