Malaysia has started the auction of financier Low Taek Jho’s $250 million luxury yacht that investigators allege was bought with funds embezzled from investment company 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB). The bidding on “Equanimity” will end on November 28, according to Bloomberg. Malaysia’s former defense minister, Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, has personally offered to help go after Jho Low until the “end of earth” and bring the fugitive businessman back to Malaysia to face the music. He said would use his previous contacts and links with the Chinese government and friends to try and bring back Jho Low if he is in China. Meanwhile, a lawmaker has alleged that the final Auditor-General’s report on the 1MDB, which was previously classified as confidential under the Official Secrets Act, was amended under the instructions of certain individuals, The Star reports.
