Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has apparently agreed that Altantuya Shaariibuu’s murder case can be reopened if there is new evidence, according to the lawyer for the Mongolian model’s father. The father, Shaariibuu Setev, lodged a police report on Thursday seeking a fresh probe into the murder of his daughter who was killed in Malaysia 12 years ago. Altantuya is believed to have been killed and her body blown up with explosives at a secondary jungle in Mukim Bukit Raja, Klang, between 10 pm on Oct 19, 2006, and 1 am on Oct 20, 2006. The Mongolian’s murder was the most shocking aspect in a scandal involving allegations that an associate of recently ousted premier Najib Razak arranged huge kickbacks for the purchase of French submarines in 2002.
