Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said Monday lawmakers must “fast-track” the impeachment of the nation’s top judge, further stacking the odds against her staying in office. The impeachment of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno will be “done” once Congress resumes sessions in May, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez said Monday. The chief justice is accused of, among others, using public funds to support her alleged lavish lifestyle, including her purchase of a luxury vehicle worth more than P5 million and her P1.9 million worth of hotel accommodations during the Southeast Asian summit in 2015.
