In a widening crackdown on opposition politicians and independent media, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said Monday that his government could make more arrests of people linked to a plot to overthrow the government. About half the country’s opposition members of parliament have left as government vows more arrests over alleged coup. Last month, authorities arrested Kem Sokha, leader of the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), and charged him with treason and espionage over an alleged plot to take power with help from the United States. Hun Sen, who has ruled the country for more than 30 years, recently vowed to stay in power for another decade.
