Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood told reporters on Monday that the country would set up a “joint working group” on the repatriation of Rohingya Muslim refugee who had fled to Bangladesh. The minister said Myanmar had agreed to take back the refugees, but gave no timeframe when it would happen. He added that the joint working group would be tasked to verify the refugees, adding that the UN would be involved in the process. Those living near refugee camps in Bangladesh are torn between compassion and frustration as the influx of hundreds and thousands of people had affected their lives, prompting the government and politicians to act.
