Brunei’s economy has remained stagnant after the COVID-19 pandemic, with no significant growth in 2023. Largely dependent on hydrocarbon production, the country has seen declines in crude oil production and tourism. Though there have been some positive developments, its future prosperity may hinge on embracing opportunities in green growth and renewable energy technologies, with greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets and vast solar power potential potentially aiding a transformative shift towards renewable industries.
