Alibaba is in talks with the Thai government to set up a logistics center in the country as part of its aggressive expansion into the Southeast Asia region, according to South China Morning Post.  Just last week, Lazada Group, a Southeast Asia-based e-commerce platform, announced that it had raised an additional USD$2 billion from Alibaba Group Holding Limited. Alibaba co-founder Lucy Peng, currently Lazada’s chairman, will take over as CEO, a decision many deem as an indication of Alibaba’s seriousness on the face of competition from the likes of Tencent and Amazon in the region.
