China’s rise and the resurgence of identity politics are two over-arching global trends which could shape Singapore’s future and should be understood “clearly and clinically” by Singaporeans, said former permanent secretary of foreign affairs Bilahari Kausikan on Thursday (July 12). Speaking at a forum organized by OCBC Bank, he also explained why he has been outspoken about attempts by China to influence and shape the Singapore identity.
