The trade war between the US and China is causing widespread concern over possible risks posed to the global economy, including that in Vietnam. However, the conflict can bring about indirect opportunities for Vietnam if the country knows how to grab hold of the situation, according to an economist quoted by Vietnam Plus. The numerous exporters in Vietnam that ship manufactured goods to the United States would save money compared with Chinese peers, if not subject to American tariffs, said Dustin Daugherty, senior associate with business consultancy Dezan Shira & Associates in Ho Chi Minh City as quoted by the Voice of America. The U.S. and China are in the early innings of a trade war. Prominent economist Stephen Roach says it is the United States that’s on track to lose, CNBC reports.
