The US Department of Justice (DoJ) will seek the Thai government’s assistance in issuing warrants on jewelry linked to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal, believed to be gifted by fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low, to his mother, the New Strait Times reports. Jho Low has maintained his innocence after the DoJ charged him in court over the scandal. In a statement issued on his behalf by a public relations firm based in Sydney, Australia, he asked for the public to keep an open mind regarding the case until all the evidence comes to light as he believed that he would be vindicated. Speaking exclusively to The Star, 1MDB whistleblower Xavier Justo feels that fugitive financier Low Taek Jho’s life might be in danger.
