State Railway of Thailand (SRT) will resume services on some train routes after most of the services were shut down to prevent the spread of Covid-19 as per the government’s policies, SRT governor Nirut Maneephan said. “Currently there are only 12 trains running to northern and eastern provinces, making the platforms and trains crowded, as a result SRT is unable to enforce social distancing,” he said. “The SRT therefore has decided to add eight more trains to selected destinations from April 28 [Tuesday] to facilitate commuters’ travel and enhance efficiency in Covid-19 prevention.”
