More than 300 Thai pro-democracy demonstrators marched to the gates of the army headquarters in Bangkok on Saturday to call on soldiers to withdraw their support for the ruling junta. Some of the activists wore cartoon masks portraying the country’s junta leader with a long nose, calling him a “liar” for delaying a general election promised this year. Coup-installed Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said earlier this month that elections would be held in February 2019, the latest in a series of setbacks and delays since his initial vow to hold polls by late 2016.
