Hundreds of pro-democracy activists in Thailand wore cartoon masks portraying the country’s leader with a long nose on Saturday, calling him a “liar” for delaying a general election promised this year. On January 30, Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said he needed a little more time in office to prepare the country for a general election, just days after his deputy said a vote planned for this year could be delayed.  Prayuth claimed to have been inspired by the doctrine of US President Donald Trump to put “Thailand First” when it comes to deciding when elections will take place. Prayuth added that Thailand’s path was up to him – and the law.
