World peace is an odd thought while staring at crisply fried eggs, sunny side up, on one’s breakfast plate in the morning. But my thoughts inevitably turned to the war in Ukraine last week while I was having breakfast. After all, the conflict has left an impact on our daily lives in Singapore, from raising prices of ingredients like eggs and cooking oil to fueling longer-term worries like regional and national security.
