In the lead-up to Chinese New Year, long queues were spotted outside local banks and many in the line were seniors. TODAY’s interviews with 10 seniors found that despite the push to digital banking that was accelerated by the pandemic, many still feel left behind. As transactions essential to everyday life become increasingly automated in recent years, some seniors said they feel increasingly inadequate to perform basic banking tasks online. Instead, they have to constantly ask their loved ones for help. Banks said given the rapidly ageing society in Singapore, many of its initiatives were rolled out with seniors in mind.
