Although he won’t be at next week’s APEC and G20 virtual summits, US President-elect Joe Biden will be on everyone’s mind. His election is an opportunity to revive global economic cooperation — dead since President Donald Trump’s arrival in 2016 — at a time when such cooperation is desperately needed to manage a host of global challenges: from the health impacts of COVID-19 and the post-pandemic economic recovery, to the long-standing challenges of climate change and global governance reform.
