Pro-democracy activists said Tuesday they will deliver letters of protest to the British and French embassies over their decision to welcome the junta leader, Prayuth Chan-ocha to their countries this week. Britain and France should highlight deteriorating human rights in Thailand when its prime minister visits this month and they should make clear there will be no “business as usual” until he holds a fair election, the Human Rights Watch said in a statement. Thailand’s prime minister said Tuesday his military government will hold elections only after a coronation ceremony for the new Thai king takes place, casting fresh doubt on promises the polls will be held by February next year.
