Sixty-three percent of Filipinos prefer vaccines against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) sourced from the United States, the first quarter survey for 2021 by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) released on Tuesday showed. Respondents were asked, “If you could choose the country of origin of the vaccines approved by the Food and Drug Administration of the Philippines, which of the following would you choose?” They were provided a list of 10 countries where vaccines are being manufactured or produced. Distantly trailing the US as the preferred source of Covid-19 vaccines is China with 19 percent, followed by Japan, Australia and the United Kingdom with 13 percent each. Two percent of the respondents chose all 10 countries, while 12 percent did not give an answer. By the time the survey was conducted, over 7 million doses of vaccines had arrived in the country from China, the United Kingdom and Russia.
