Majority of Filipinos surveyed by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) said the vice presidential bid of President Rodrigo Duterte in 2022 would violate the Constitution.

The survey held from June 23 to 26 showed that 60 percent of the respondents expressed that the President’s intention to run for vice president would go against provisions of the Charter, while 39 percent said he should run for president because they would like his management of the government to continue. Respondents from Mindanao and Metro Manila were more likely to support Duterte’s candidacy at 46 and 43 percent, respectively, followed by the Visayas at 40 percent, then the rest of Luzon at 35 percent. Those who opposed Duterte’s vice-presidential bid were highest among those very dissatisfied with his performance — 88 percent among those very dissatisfied, 83 percent among those somewhat satisfied, 81 percent of those undecided, 62 percent of those satisfied and 42 percent among those very satisfied with his performance.
