We’ve been waiting in vain for Congress to pass an anti-dynasty law for the past 30 years. What we’ve failed to realize is that we, the Filipino people, have the power to pass such a law ourselves. The 1987 Constitution declares a policy prohibiting political dynasties with these words: “The State shall guarantee equal access to opportunities for public service, and prohibit political dynasties as may be defined by law.”
