THE Department of Science and Technology (DoST) has approved the Philippines’ participation in the vaccine solidarity trial for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) led by the World Health Organization (WHO). Science and Technology Secretary Fortunato dela Pena whose agency heads the country’s vaccine expert panel said this, together with the P 89.1 million budget provided by the government, will give the country access to the vaccines that WHO will select for the clinical trials.

Meanwhile, dela Pena said the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the study of the lagundi plant as an adjunctive, or support, therapy for patients mildly infected with Covid-19.
