Almost half a million Filipinos are still in evacuation centers days after Typhoon Odette lashed Visayas and Mindanao, the Department of Social Welfare Development said on Monday. In its latest report, the department said 438,359 people are in evacuation centers, or 109,914 families. It added that 1,805,005 people or 452,307 families were affected in regions 5,6,7,8,9,10 MIMAROPA and Caraga. More than 20,000 houses were totally destroyed. The victims have received P14.5 million in aid from the DSWD, local government units and non-governmental organizations. Most areas affected by the typhoon remain without power and internet, the department said, making gathering of data difficult.
