Gunmen killed a town mayor and two other people and wounded the mayor’s wife in northern Philippines in the latest brazen attack on local officials, Associated Press reported Tuesday, quoting local police. The murder of Mayor Alexander Buquing followed the killings of local officials in the Philippines as four were gunned down from July 2 to July 7. While other crimes have gone down in the Philippines, the homicide count continues to soar under the leadership of President Rodrigo Duterte. Buquing, who was dead on arrival at the hospital after being ambushed early evening of Monday, is the 12th mayor killed under President Rodrigo Duterte, based on police and several media reports collated by Rappler.
