The international community’s recent allegations of gross human rights abuses by the Tatmadaw (military) and of complicity by the civilian government, and the removal of the Commander-in-Chief’s Facebook page have created a sense of unease and uncertainty in Myanmar. Why has the world suddenly turned against Myanmar and Aung San Suu Kyi?  The immediate reaction might be to close ranks, pull up the drawbridge and retreat into a more secure but isolated world, depending on China, North Korea, and Russia for survival.
