On 26 May, Myanmar Pressphoto Agency (MPA) video journalist Hmue Yadanar Khet Moh Moh Tun, who was seriously injured in the head when Military Council soldiers drove a car into peacefully protesting youth, was sentenced to 10 years in prison under Section 50 (j) of the Counter-Terrorism Law by Thingangyun District Court.

On 5 December, 2021, approximately 15 protesters were arrested after Military Council soldiers drove into peacefully protesting youths and arrested them on Pan Pin Gyi Road in Kyee Myin Daing Township. She was arrested in the incident and received serious injuries to her head and legs. She was charged in December 2021 by the Kyimyindaing Police station under Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code, and the Insein Prison Court gave her a three-year prison term. She has now received a total of 13-years in prison after being given a 10-year sentence on 26 May under Section 50 (j) of the Counter-Terrorism Law.

“She will not continue to appeal. Her mother and sister were also presented in the courtroom on 26 May, so they will not file an appeal as per the wish of Hmue Yadanar Khet Moh Moh Tun,” a lawyer working on the case told Mizzima. Read more at:
