As neighboring countries, China and Myanmar are inextricably linked by a 2185-kilometre border. The Taping, Ruili and Salween rivers, which cut through Myanmar’s mountains and plains, have their source in China. Almost all the people of both countries speak the languages of the Sino-Tibetan (Trans-Himalayan) family.
