New details on the millions of dollars that former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak and his wife allegedly took from the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) sovereign wealth fund and hid in Hong Kong and Singapore will soon emerge, said investigative journalist Clare Rewcastle Brown, as quoted by The Straits Times. Brown is a British investigative journalist and founder and editor of the Sarawak Report and Radio Free Sarawak, which came to prominence for breaking the news on wide-scale political corruption in Malaysia and the resulting impacts on civil and indigenous rights as well as on the environment. A feature film will be made about the finance scandal that saw mysterious Najib’s moneyman Jho Low, vanish along with an estimated $5 billion from the Malaysian treasury after he and associates blazed a trail of excesses in Hollywood, Deadline reports.
