The 2026 Umno general assembly, being held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur from yesterday till Saturday, is expected to see more than 6,400 delegates across the main assembly and the Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri wings. Pre-assembly programs have already addressed Islamic scholarship, Malay education, women, artificial intelligence and the digital economy. The setting combines tradition with an attempt to frame Umno’s relevance around social and technological change. The political message is one of consolidation before expansion.
