The Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN), which is facing multi-cornered fights, is likely to clinch victory in the East Malaysia state come polling day this Wednesday. According analysts, barring any upsets, BN is in a better position to secure a two-thirds majority in the state legislative assembly in the 14th General Election. Malaysia’s ruling party Umno has sacked two former prominent members, former ministers Daim Zainuddin and Rafidah Aziz, for working with the opposition, and has placed a third one under investigation. Mahathir Mohamad, the former Malaysian prime minister turned opposition leader, is being investigated under a controversial anti-fake news law over a claim his plane was sabotaged.
