Most Malaysian taxi drivers are a recalcitrant lot. No amount of advice or counselling works. They have been wrong so long that they think they are right. The chaotic meeting of the taxi drivers’ association members on Sunday with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in Langkawi is instructive. Some 10 taxi drivers turned abusive and walked out of the room after the prime minister said he would continue to find the best solution for Grab and taxi drivers. Is it any surprise that British site LondonCabs.co.uk voted Malaysian taxi drivers to be the worst in the world in May 2016.
