Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said President Donald Trump’s diplomatic style is undermining U.S. efforts in Asia and he made a tongue-in-cheek prediction that China can outlast America in the latest trade dispute between the world’s two biggest economies, Bloomberg reports. China announced on Wednesday a plan to cut import tariffs on a slew of goods to lessen the impact of the trade war, suggesting that Beijing is digging in and expects the trade war with the US to last for some time, according to Business Insider. A simulation carried out by the European Central Bank shows that a global trade war would hurt U.S. economy significantly, making households poorer and destroying jobs, while China would not suffer as much.
