Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said on Wednesday his new government will study a project announced by the previous administration to form a new trading link between the stock markets of Singapore and Malaysia. Mahathir’s administration is also looking to replace the chief executive officer of the national stock exchange, two sources said on Wednesday, the latest in a series of top management changes initiated by the newly-elected government. In response to Mahathir’s statement, the Monetary Authority of Singapore said on Wednesday that it has asked Malaysia to clarify its position on a proposed link between the countries’ stock exchanges.
