Indonesia Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita has warned Norway over the proposed ban of import of crude palm oil (CPO) and its derivative products from Indonesia by the country’s parliament. Enggartiasto delivered his warning when he met with Norway Advertisement Minister Per Sandburg at Enggartiasto’s office in Jakarta on Wednesday. The European Parliament last year voted to phase out use of unsustainable palm oil in biodiesel by 2020. Previously, UK-based Iceland supermarket announced that it would become the first major supermarket in the country that would remove palm oil from all its own-brand foods, in a bid to halt the ongoing destruction of tropical rainforests in Southeast Asia.
